Everyone should be able to learn, communicate and create. All without feeling under surveillance. That’s why Tor Browser is free. As is using the Tor network. But running all the computers forming the network costs money. Nos Oignons needs your help to fund its relays.
About one connection to an Internet site out of fifty goes through one of Nos Oignons’ exit node. After 5 years, the organization would like to continue its service which costs about 12,000€ each year.
Why donate?
Nos Oignons is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run, transparent organisation founded in 2013 to run Tor exit nodes in France by collecting donations.
The Tor network is nowadays used by millions of people throughout the world who wish to protect their privacy online. Its made of thousands of relays run by hundreds of volunteers. Instead of relying on individual efforts, Nos Oignons enables money and time to be pooled, so relays can be run with a large bandwidth. The organisation is part of the torservers.net network which brings together 22 organizations with similar principles.
The five servers currently running cost Nos Oignons slightly more than 800€ per month. With enough regular donations, we could even add more!
How are donations used?
The organization turns most of its income into bandwidth for the Tor network. In 2017, 83% of expenses went to hosting relays.
All financial reports since 2015 are available in French in PDF format. The financial report for year 2017 was released on the 15th of August 2018, and the activity report was released on October, 4th.

Leave us a postal address if you wish to receive them. We could also hand them to you next time we hold a booth somewhere. Until they are all gone, of course.
Warning: just like emails, intermediaries providing transport and storage can read postcard content and know who communicates with whom.
How to donate?
A one-time donation will allow Nos Oignons to run its relays a little longer. Monthly donations enable us to have a better view of the future and eventually set up new relays!
HelloAsso
HelloAsso do not take a percentage of your donation. 100% of what you donate is transfered to the organization. However, their interface will prompt you to make a donation to HelloAsso as well. You can choose the amount. Feel free to change the suggested value. and beware, the default “tip” can be over 20% of your donation! (Other services will usually cost between 1% and 5%.) HelloAsso can also be a good option for recurring donations, as you can select “no tip”, whereas other services will take a percentage every time you donate.
PayPal
Donations through PayPal costs 0.25€ + 1,4% of the given amount.
For 10€, PayPal will keep 0.39€.
For 50€, PayPal will keep 0.95€.
For 100€, PayPal will keep 1.65€.
Wires
You can get our wire transfer address (IBAN) by writing an email to our answering machine.
Send us a postal address specifying the date and the amount of the wire transfer if you wish to receive the goodies.
Most banks allow to order regular wire transfers. Monthly wire transfers help us have a better view on our ability to sustain running relays over time.
Bitcoins

Warning: contrary to what most media says, exchanging bitcoins is not anonymous. All bitcoin exchanges are recorded and the records are publicly accessible. It is just how the system works. This means there are several analysises possible to link a Bitcoin address to the person using it.
